The Night Before

You can't stop me now
You can't hold me down
You can't keep me here, I'm on my way
I've made it this far now
And I'm not burning out
No matter what you say, I'm not afraid
-Yellowcard, "Way Away"

It's the night before Inferno 2 starts up, and I already know where I'll be. A TWoP friend of mine has invited me over to check out the season opener. This will be the third time in the past four seasons. Come to think of it, I didn't do this for Battle of the Sexes 2, and that ended up sucking really hard. Think there's a connection?

At this point, I'd like to say that I'm doing these recaps for my fans. Yes, I have fans. True story: there I am at TARCon, waiting for Racers to come up so I can take their pictures. A woman walks up to me and sees my nametag. Turns out she loves my work. Of course, I have to tell her about what had happened, complete with the e-mail I had recieved three days prior in regards to recapping for that site. Now she no longer wants to go there. I bitch about what had happened, complete with an anedecote which I can't repeat here. I've asked about her on the TARCon thread, but nobody stepped up. Her nametag read "O'Hara" or something like that. I'd like to think that my mind isn't fractured enough for me to make all that up.

I'm dedicating this season's recaps to you guys...those who know me via TWoP, those who stumbled across my recaps in the past, and everybody in between. While the seeds of this blog were sown in a fit of pique and loathing, I want to make this work, even if I have little clue what all the advance stuff is about, even if I'm banging this out on an older, worm-riddled laptop. I still consider myself the best Challenge recapper around, even if that indicates that I enjoy beating a dead horse more than most people. The only thing I ask of you is to give me feedback, either by commenting here or e-mailing me (it's still lantern75@earthlink.net). Also, please spread the word to your friends. Last season, I sent out updates via the fantasy game group I set up at MTV.com. Sadly, there's no game this season, so I'm cut off.

As for me? I'll recap on my own pace, getting the job done in less than a week. I usually hit my stride around the second week. Turns out the first episode will be 30 minutes long, which I don't get. What, MTV couldn't pre-empt The Osbournes? I probably won't curse for the sake of cursing...took me a dozen episodes of BOTS1 before I called somebody a "bitch" for the first time. I save the blue stuff for the forums. Also, I like saying "Oedipus Rex" in place of a twelve-letter expression. Makes me feel edjumacated, y'know?

That's it. I look forward to hearing from you guys in the months to come.
